UK: DEPRESSION 'TOP SICK LEAVE CAUSE'

A study published in the British Medical Journal has found that depression and anxiety are now the most common reasons for people starting to claim long-term sickness benefits. The researchers estimated that 176 million working days were lost in 2003, due to depression and stress and, and called for more to be done in order to help people with depression to return to work. |

ENGLAND: EXERCISE TO TREAT DEPRESSION CALL

A report from the Mental Health Foundation has recommended that GP's should offer exercise on prescription to all patients with depression, following mounting evidence that supervised exercise programs could be as effective in treating mild to moderate depression as drug treatment. |
